Speeding Dumpers Claim Lives In Jorhat

JORHAT, March 16: One person was killed and three others sustained serious injuries in a road accident at Charingia area of NH -715, on the western outskirts here, on Wednesday after a dumper (sand, gravel carrying-truck) reportedly hit an i10 car.

According to a police source, the person driving the car, identified as Montan Sarmah of Arengapara village, Golaghat, died on the spot, while three others (two males and a female) in the vehicle – were seriously injured. They were admitted to the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital.

The driver of the dumper was apprehended and both the vehicles were brought to Pulibor Police Station for necessary action, the source added.

It may be mentioned that this was second road mishap involving a dumper on Jorhat outskirts within a gap of five days after a youth riding a motorbike died on the spot after hit by a dumper on north western outskirts here on March 11.
