GUWAHATI, March 17: Special Director General of Police SN Singh today on Twitter informed that a huge fire took place on Friday morning at Lalungaon, Lokhara, Guwahati on the 2nd floor of the G+2 warehouse of Airtel India. The Fire Fighters of Fire and Emergency Services Assam put a lot of effort and controlled the fire as soon as possible between the “heavy smoke and heat”.
Earlier on March 14, a massive inferno broke out on the 9th floor of a newly constructed building at Dakhingaon. Initial reports imply that the fire might have been caused by an electrical short-circuit. Nine fire tenders arrived at the scene to remove the fire.
A similar incident occurred on March 12 when the house of Shyam Newar, a resident of Dhobikhola, Balijuri on the northern part of Jamugurihat was gutted by a devastating fire. As per reports, the fire caused by the fire of kitchen engulfed the entire house within minutes and destroyed the belongings and property worth lakhs of rupees. The team of firefighters reached the site on time and managed to extinguish the fire. A team of Itakhola police headed by Bhaskar Jyoti Saikia also reached the site and took stock of the damage caused by the fire.
