Fire Engulfs Market In Gossaingaon

GOSSAIGAON, March 19: A massive fire that broke out at Howriapet market in the wee hours of Sunday morning gutted 12 shops.

Property worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes by the uncompromising intensity of the fire.

The fire, suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit quickly spread to other shops in a short period of time in the congested market.

Soon fire tenders reached the spot and tried to douse the fire only to make failed attempts.

Sajal Kumar Singha, MCLA, 3 No Srirampur BTC constituency immediately rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation and promised financial assistance to the affected shopkeepers.

The fire engulfed grocery, stationary, computer, electronics shops in the market claiming poetry worth Rs 50 lakh, sources said.
