DIPHU: A total of 107 ceiling fans were distributed to 56 schools of both Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong under ‘Vidyanjali’ scheme through community participation at Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) meeting hall here on Thursday.
40 schools in West Karbi Anglong and 16 schools from Karbi Anglong received the donation.
The ceiling fans were distributed by executive member (EM), KAAC for Education, Richard Tokbi in presence of deputy commissioner Madhumita Bhagawati, ACS; secretaries, KAAC, Nirola Phangchopi and Dilip Terang; joint secretary, Nirupuma Timungpi; district mission coordinator, SSA, Nayan Pathak and inspector of schools, Karbi Anglong, Biren Sing Engti.
The EM said through Vidyanjali individuals can contribute in supporting schools through service or activities.
EM Tokbi himself donated 20 nos of ceiling fans, while DC Madhumita Bhagawati, ACS donated 10 nos and Dilip Terang, secretary, KAAC, 10 nos.
Other donors were inspector of schools, Karbi Anglong, Biren Sing Engti (AES (I), 20 nos; accountant, Inspector of Schools office Hemari Kro, 20 nos; executive engineer, KAAC, Ram Rongphar, 10 nos; assistant director, Handloom & Textiles, Tapan Das 5 nos; social workers Vikram Ronghang and James Phangcho 5 nos each; Mohon Taro and owner of Malong Offset 2 nos.
