ITANAGAR, Sept 20: The Arunachal Publishers and Broadcasters Guild (APBG) has expressed profound grief over the passing of Gamde Ete Gamlin, the beloved mother of APBG Chairman, former Arunachal Press Club President and Founding Editor of Eastern Sentinel, Jarpum Gamlin.
The guild conveyed its condolences through an official statement.
Born on January 1, 1938, at Bene village in West Siang district, Late Gamde Ete Gamlin was regarded as a woman of dignity, courage, and compassion.
Over the decades, she became the guiding force of a family whose contributions to public service and state affairs have been widely acknowledged.
She was the mother of a distinguished lineage including Former Minister Jarkar Gamlin, Former Chief Minister Late Jarbom Gamlin, Maj Gen Jarken Gamlin, social activist Jarjum Gamlin Ete, Jarsa Gamlin, Jarter Gamlin Ronya, and Jarpum Gamlin.
Beyond her role as the matriarch of this eminent family, she was remembered for her nurturing spirit, her strength in adversity, and her ability to inspire both kin and community.
According to the statement, she almost singlehandedly raised her children while also extending her care and guidance to many others.
She was deeply cherished as a loving mother, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother, and a strict but affectionate disciplinarian.
Her legacy of resilience, love, and service to family and society, the Guild said, will remain a source of inspiration for generations.
“On behalf of the publishing and broadcasting fraternity of Arunachal Pradesh, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Shri Jarpum Gamlin and the entire bereaved family. We pray for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family in this moment of grief,” the APBG statement read.
The Guild also acknowledged the personal and professional contributions of Jarpum Gamlin to the state’s media landscape and noted that the values instilled by his late mother had played a formative role in shaping his life and work.
Late Gamde Ete Gamlin’s demise, the APBG underlined, marks the end of an era in the Gamlin family’s history of service and sacrifice.
