Arunachal: 40th annual Sangha Kanto Poi-2025 celebration

MARGHERITA, Nov 6: The two-day 40th annual Sangha Kanto Poi-2025 was celebrated by the Kalasuka group at Ninggrang village in Miao, Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh attended by more than 100 Buddhist monks, Shramaan and 10,000 Upasak and Upasika (devotees) from both Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The first day, on Monday, November 3, began with the hoisting of the World Buddhist Flag, Zau-Sangkham and Dara Thom followed by the inauguration of Kathin Civar Daan Utsav and concluded with a delegate session of Purbanchal Bhikkhu Sangha and Purbanchal Buddha Samity.

On Tuesday, the second day, the programme commenced with group flag hoisting, Kathin Civar Daan, Fra and Patesha Procession, Dara Thom/Dhamma Sabha, Sangho Kanto and the retreat of the World Buddhist Flag, which was followed by a handover to representatives of the next group for celebration. The programme concluded successfully with a cultural night.

There are six groups under the Purbanchal Buddha Samity, including Kalasuka, Ajasatru, Ashoka, Wathagamini, Dhaamika and Mendung groups. This year, the Kalasuka group organised the 40th Annual Sangha Kanto Poi-2025 at Ninggrang village in Miao, Changlang district.

Sekhum Ronrang, president of the Reception Committee and Kalasuka group, said it was a proud moment as Buddhist monks, Shramaan and devotees from Assam and Arunachal Pradesh attended in large numbers. Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, local MLAs, ministers, government departments, NCC and local residents contributed immensely to making the ceremony a memorable event.
