ITANAGAR, Aug 10: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh on Sunday launched its week-long 79th Independence Day celebrations with the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” tree plantation programme at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Headquarters here.
According to an official statement, the event saw participation from ITBP personnel, including Assistant Commandant Kamal Kumar, and was led by State Secretary-cum-Convenor Lori Mugli.
State office bearers, newly appointed heads of Morchas, party workers, and IMC corporators also attended.
Addressing the gathering, BJP state general secretary Tadar Niglar said the plantation drive marked the first in a series of events to be held at the mandal, district, and state levels.
He asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India is emerging as a global superpower, citing the recent Operation Sindoor and advances in defence technology, including development of the next-generation BrahMos missile under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
Niglar also referred to the latest International Monetary Fund (IMF) report, which revised India’s GDP growth forecast upward to 6.4% for both FY 2026 and FY 2027, and said even the recently imposed 50% US tariff would not affect the country’s growth momentum.
The statement added that as part of the celebrations, BJP will hold the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 11 to 14, along with cleanliness drives at freedom struggle memorials, war memorials, and other historical sites.
A Tiranga Yatra bike rally will also be organised, with party workers visiting the families of soldiers and martyrs.
According to the statement, these activities aim to preserve heritage, protect the environment, and honour the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters.
