NAMSAI, May 28: The District Industries Centre (DIC), Pasighat, in collaboration with the District Administration, East Siang, and SPV Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, organized a comprehensive training programme for MSME buyers and sellers on the GeM portal. The session was held on May 27 at 10:00 am in the DC’s Conference Hall, Pasighat.
The programme was chaired by Tayi Taggu, Deputy Commissioner of East Siang District. In his opening remarks, Shri U. Prasad from the Industries Department briefed the participants on the aims and objectives of the training, emphasizing the significance of the GeM portal in empowering local enterprises.
Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, who attended the session in its entirety, urged all participants to gain a thorough understanding of the GeM portal. He explained that the portal was developed by the Government of India to promote and enable Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), local suppliers, and sellers to directly supply goods and services to various government departments through a transparent, efficient, and digital platform.
Bikash Kumar Das, the resource person from SPV GeM, provided a detailed overview of the Government e-Marketplace. His session included guidance on the registration and bidding processes, benefits of participation, and best practices for navigating and utilizing the portal effectively.
The training was well-attended, with around 90 participants representing various groups including Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM), MSMEs, PM Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME), Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana (DDUSY) beneficiaries, and Self Help Groups (SHGs) from Ruksin, Pasighat, and Mebo blocks.
Key officials present at the training included Yamo Tamut (EAC), Mahtsam Jamoh (DDI), Libang Perme (ADTH), Anima Gammeng (ADI), and Smti H. Koyu (EI), who all underscored the need for local businesses to embrace the digital marketplace for sustainable growth and government engagement.
The event concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing enthusiasm to apply their newly acquired knowledge and become active sellers and service providers on the GeM platform.
