BORDURIA, Aug 11: In a remarkable display of skill and dedication, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) from EMRI Green Health Services successfully delivered a healthy baby boy inside a 108 emergency ambulance in Tirap district on Monday.
According to an official statement, the incident occurred when a 108 ambulance (AR01N8380) from PHC Borduria was transporting a pregnant woman to a medical facility.
As the vehicle approached the Bogapani area, the patient began experiencing intense labour pain.
She was also diagnosed with leaking per vaginam (P/V) and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), a condition that can pose significant risks to both mother and child.
Recognising the urgency of the situation, EMTs Phetat Wangsa and Liamhun Tongrang acted swiftly and decisively.
Drawing on their training and experience, they created a safe delivery environment inside the moving ambulance.
At approximately 12:59 p.m., they successfully assisted in the birth of a healthy male baby weighing 3.4 kg.
Following the delivery, both mother and newborn were transported to Mayflower Hospital in Margherita, Assam, for postnatal care.
Medical staff at the hospital confirmed that both were in stable and healthy condition.
The EMTs’ quick thinking, professional competence, and compassionate approach drew praise from the newborn’s family as well as hospital personnel.
The statement highlighted that the 108 free emergency ambulance services, operated by EMRI Green Health Services (formerly GVK EMRI), were launched in Arunachal Pradesh on June 21, 2021, by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
Since its inception, the service has catered to more than 26,000 beneficiaries across the state.
The organisation commended the dedication of its EMTs and ambulance pilots, who provide 24/7 emergency support throughout the year, ensuring that critical healthcare reaches even the most remote corners of Arunachal Pradesh.
