DAPORIJO, June 27: A newly established Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) was officially inaugurated at Lable Moring in Upper Subansiri district, marking a significant step towards promoting girls’ education in the remote region.
According to an official statement, the school has been set up under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative and will be operated by the ABCD Charitable Society.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Minister for Industries, Trade & Commerce, Skill Development, IPR & Printing, Nyato Dukam, who emphasised the state government’s commitment to the educational and holistic development of girls, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
Speaking at the event, the minister highlighted that the residential school for girls is designed to serve the needs of the local population and support deserving families in accessing quality education for their daughters.
Reaffirming the government’s focus on strengthening the education infrastructure in the district, Minister Dukam assured that additional facilities such as a playground, boundary wall, and other essential amenities will be developed to create a safe and supportive learning environment for the students.
He encouraged the students to seize the opportunity and dedicate themselves to their studies with sincerity and determination.
The minister stressed the transformative power of education and called on the students to make it a priority in their lives.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of several dignitaries and community members, including Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Tasso Gambo, Chairman of the ABCD Charitable Society Tadam Haging Cherom, Heads of Departments, PRI leaders, School Managing Committee members, local leaders, residents, and villagers from nearby areas. The gathering underscored the community’s collective support for the initiative and its long-term impact on the region’s educational landscape.
