PASIGHAT, June 1: The 86th birth anniversary of noted novelist, writer and journalist Lummer Dai was observed with solemnity and reverence at Pasighat on Monday.
The commemorative programme was organised by the Adi Agom Kébang (AAK) in collaboration with literary enthusiasts and admirers of the late literary icon.
Members of AAK, led by president Bodong Yirang and adviser Kaling Borang, along with representatives of the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS), Pasighat Unit, and the Asam Sahitya Sabha, paid floral tributes to the late writer.
As a mark of respect, participants garlanded his effigy while patriotic and cultural songs in Adi and Assamese were played, creating a nostalgic atmosphere during the observance.
Speakers at the programme recalled Lummer Dai’s immense contribution to literature and journalism, noting that he remains one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most celebrated literary figures.
Through his writings in Assamese, he vividly portrayed the culture, traditions and social realities of the people of Northeast India, leaving behind a rich literary legacy.
More than three dozen people attended the event and offered floral tributes.
Among those present were Tagom Darang, Kaling Dai, noted writer Nini Pertin, literary enthusiasts, intellectuals and members of civil society. The gathering remembered Lummer Dai’s enduring contributions to literature and reaffirmed the importance of preserving and promoting the literary heritage he championed throughout his life.
