The information was provided in an official statement from the district administration.

A special coordination meeting was held earlier in which all line departments were directed to complete their assigned tasks on a war footing.

“The 79th Independence Day will be celebrated by the people of the frontier state in a befitting manner, with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour,” DC Babu said.

As per the programme, Chief Minister Pema Khandu will hoist the tricolour at IG Park, take the salute of the marching contingents, and address the people of the state.

The parade will feature around 27 contingents, including units from the police, NCC, Scouts & Guides, and school students from various institutions under the Itanagar Capital Complex.

A special contingent from the Nagaland Police will also participate. State awards will be announced during the function.

The celebrations will include a variety of cultural performances by teams representing different tribes and districts of Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing the state’s diverse traditions and heritage.

The Department of Art & Culture will present patriotic songs, while the Department of Health & Family Welfare will stage a skit on drug abuse awareness.

DC Babu said that several dignitaries, including community-based organisation leaders, political leaders, and representatives from various tribes, are expected to attend the event.

While the weather might pose challenges, he expressed confidence that the people of Itanagar would turn out in large numbers to mark the historic day.

Meanwhile, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Itanagar Range, Tumme Amo, stated that the Arunachal Pradesh Police have made elaborate security arrangements to ensure public safety and maintain law and order during the celebrations.

Security personnel will be deployed across the city, particularly around IG Park, and multiple advisories have been issued for the convenience of visitors.

Vehicle owners have been advised not to park in restricted areas near the venue for security reasons.

Designated parking spaces have been arranged for VVIPs, VIPs, and invitees, with parking stickers issued accordingly.

All visitors, including invitees, will be subject to frisking at the entry gates, and the carrying of weapons or prohibited items is strictly banned.

In view of the issue of illegal immigration, the DIGP informed that instructions have been issued to all check gates across the state and within the capital complex to strictly verify Inner Line Permits (ILP).

Visitors have been urged to carry valid identity proof to avoid inconvenience.

The statement added that the administration and police are working in close coordination to ensure that the Independence Day celebrations at IG Park take place smoothly, safely, and in an atmosphere of unity and patriotic pride.
