NAMSAI, Aug 8: A two-day district and block-level workshop on Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) 2.0 commenced on Friday at the DC’s Conference Hall, Namsai.
The programme is being organised by the State Institute of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (SIRD&PR) in collaboration with the District Administration, Namsai.
The training, chaired by Deputy Commissioner C R Khampa, was attended by ZPC Namsai Nang Urmila Mancheykhun, ADC-cum-DPDO Namsai Nang Kalyani Namchoom, Dr Narayan Sahoo, Deputy Director-cum-Course Director, SIRD&PR, heads of departments, and Gram Panchayat chairpersons of the Namsai Zilla Parishad segment.
In his inaugural address, Khampa informed that Namsai district ranked 10th in the state with a PAI score of 54.38 for the financial year 2022-23.
He urged all HoDs and line functionaries to cooperate in sharing departmental data for 2023-24 to help improve the district’s score.
He also stressed identifying gaps in developmental progress across themes linked to the localisation of sustainable development goals, including poverty-free and enhanced livelihood, healthy villages, child-friendly panchayats, water-friendly panchayats, clean and green panchayats, self-sufficient village infrastructure, socially just and secure panchayats, good governance, and women-friendly panchayats.
ZPC Mancheykhun called for the cooperation of all line departments for the successful rollout of PAI 2.0 in the district.
Course Director Dr Sahoo briefed participants on the programme’s policy framework for evidence-based planning at the Gram Panchayat level, baseline findings from PAI 1.0, key learnings and challenges, the standard operational procedure, and the PAI 1.0 Gram Panchayat scorecard.
Welcoming participants, ADC-cum-DPDO Namchoom emphasised that PAI 2.0 activities are time-bound, with all data collection to be completed by August 20, 2025.
She urged timely submission of information for onward transmission to the State Data Validation Team and informed that similar training programmes will be held in Chongkham, Piyong, Lekang, and Upper Lekang segments.
Over 100 participants, including 15 HoDs, attended the inaugural session.
