NAMSAI, May 29: In a determined push towards agricultural self-reliance and sustainable development, Minister for Women and Child Development, Dasanglu Pul, launched the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) in Gipulin village of Dibang Valley district on Thursday.
The campaign, a nationwide initiative under the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, seeks to equip farmers with awareness, technology, and access to government schemes.
According to an official statement, the launch programme was attended by Anini MLA and Advisor to the Tourism Minister, Mopi Mihu, ZPC Theko Tayu, Deputy Commissioner Pagli Sora, senior scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Anini, along with officials from various line departments.
Speaking at the event, Minister Pul emphasised that empowering farmers through education, accessibility, and modern tools is the cornerstone of building a resilient agricultural economy.
“This campaign is about reaching the last-mile farmer and ensuring that the benefits of schemes like PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Kisan Credit Cards, and soil health initiatives are delivered directly to their doorsteps,” she said.
As part of the campaign’s field-level implementation, soil health cards and hybrid seeds were distributed among local farmers to promote scientific agricultural practices and enhance crop productivity.
Two Krishi Raths were also flagged off by the minister.
These mobile awareness vehicles will traverse villages across the district, disseminating information on new agricultural techniques, crop insurance, input subsidies, and other welfare schemes.
The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan is aligned with the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
The campaign focuses on doubling farmers’ income through the application of sustainable technology, improved advisory services, and streamlined delivery of benefits under various central initiatives, including the PMFBY, Kisan Credit Cards, and Soil Health Management.
MLA Mopi Mihu, addressing the gathering, called the campaign a timely and much-needed intervention.
“VKSA is not just a government programme; it is a people’s movement towards smart and sustainable agriculture suited to our local needs,” he remarked.
The event saw active participation from local farmers, Self Help Group (SHG) members, and youths, reflecting strong grassroots support for the initiative.
Officials stated that the campaign will soon expand to other villages in the district to further reinforce the region’s agricultural resilience and productivity.
The VKSA, running from May 29 to June 12, 2025, is being implemented in all districts across the country, aiming to build awareness, boost farmer-scientist interaction, and deliver agri-benefits efficiently and transparently.
