GUWAHATI, Aug 5: In a successful joint operation by the Special Task Force (STF) and local police, three suspected drug peddlers were arrested on Saturday in Guwahati. The operation took place in the Khanapara area, following specific information received by the authorities.
During the operation, the law enforcement team seized a substantial quantity of contraband, approximately 30 kg of cannabis, from the possession of the arrested individuals. The estimated value of the seized drugs in the international market is around Rs 15 lakh.
Investigations revealed that the cannabis was being transported from Karimganj to Baihata Chariali in Kamrup district.
“Three drug peddlers were arrested with 30 kg of cannabis during the operation,” a police statement said.
“The apprehended persons and the seized cannabis were handed over to Guwahati Police for carrying out investigation by registering a case under proper sections of law,” the statement added.
This significant operation highlights the authorities’ commitment to combating the illegal drug trade in the region and sends a strong message against drug peddling and trafficking.
