The joint effort of the 31st Battalion SSB and 135 Infantry Battalion Territorial Army resulted in the planting of 10,000 saplings. The event was attended by Army Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Cooke, Chiranjib Bhattacharjee (Commandant), and Dighade S R (deputy commandant) of the 31st Battalion SSB.

Highlighting the importance of trees, Army Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Cooke emphasised that the need for tree plantation has only grown stronger with each passing day. He urged everyone to join in the collective effort to save our ailing planet by planting more trees.

Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, while attending the mega plantation drive, expressed that the responsibility for our planet’s ecological system lies with all citizens. The importance of tree plantation is becoming increasingly apparent as we witness the deterioration of forests and ecosystems.

Trees play a crucial role in replenishing groundwater, filtering air from harmful pollutants and odours, and mitigating climate change by absorbing greenhouse gases. The plantation drive aimed to contribute towards these environmental benefits and create awareness about the significance of tree plantation.
