MORIGAON, February 21: A distribution programme for 52″ R.S. Fly Shuttle Frame Looms (Steel) along with accessories was held at the premises of the Office of the Assistant Director, Handloom and Textiles, Morigaon, aimed at strengthening the handloom sector in the district.
The event was attended by Morigaon MLA Ramakanta Dewri and Additional District Commissioner Anushuya Sharma, ACS, who handed over the looms to the beneficiaries.A total of 40 trainees who successfully completed their training at Handloom Training Centres in Morigaon district received the looms under the scheme.
The programme witnessed the presence of the trainees, their guardians, and departmental officials.The initiative seeks to empower the newly trained weavers by equipping them with essential infrastructure, enabling them to take up independent and sustainable handloom activities. Officials stated that the support would enhance livelihood opportunities while also strengthening the traditional handloom industry in the district.
