DALGAON, Aug 31: A team of drug inspectors and Executive Magistrates sealed 7 pharmacies in Office Bazaar under Dalgaon police station in Darrang district on Thursday. The team, led by Taslima Jannat, drug inspector, and Sameer Chowdhary, Executive Magistrate, Dalgaon, made a surprise visit to the area after receiving complaints that the pharmacies were selling medicines and cosmetics without a valid license.

The pharmacies were found closed during the visit, but notices to seal them were pasted on the doors and the locks were changed. It is alleged that the pharmacies had been operating illegally for several months.

This is not the first time that pharmacies in Dalgaon have been sealed for selling medicines without a valid license. In fact, several pharmacies were sealed a few months ago, but they reopened within a week. This has raised suspicion among the common people of the region about the effectiveness of the Drugs Inspectorate’s actions.
