Accused ASP Remanded To Judicial Custody

Sivasagar, Sept 12: Charaideo additional superintendent of police, Subhalaxmi Dutta who has been accused of torturing her domestic help, was remanded to judicial custody for 10 days on Tuesday.

The police officer was produced before the sub-divisional magistrate in Nazira on Tuesday, who rejected her bail petition and remanded her to 10 days of judicial custody. She will be produced before the court in Nazira on September 22.

The Assam police had launched a man-hunt to track Dutta, who had been absconding. A case had been registered against her for brutally torturing her domestic help, Anima Praja. She finally surrendered before the Sivasagar police on September 10.

The Sivasagar police has registered a case against her under sections 28/342/307/326/506 of the Indian Penal Code.  However, during interrogation, she did not co-operate much, said senior police officers.
