GUWAHATI, Oct 30: The All Assam School Shakeout Mock Drill 2025 concluded successfully with a series of block-level orientation programmes conducted across Dima Hasao district, marking a major step toward strengthening disaster preparedness and awareness among school communities.
The mock drill, organised on different dates across multiple blocks, saw the participation of 37 selected schools. Teachers and students took part in hands-on training sessions guided by Block Mission Coordinators, Ricky Phukan (DPO, DDMA Dima Hasao), field officers, DDRF members, CQRT teams, Fire and Emergency Services personnel and Red Cross volunteers.

The initiative, part of the statewide Great Assam School Shakeout Mock Drill, aimed to enhance the capacity of teachers and students to respond effectively to disasters such as earthquakes and fire emergencies. The sessions included evacuation drills, simulation exercises, and live demonstrations to help participants gain real-time experience in emergency response.
The programme also emphasised the formation of School Disaster Management Committees and the adoption of safety protocols to ensure schools remain alert and prepared for any emergency.
With the final drill concluding on October 29, Dima Hasao has reaffirmed its strong commitment to disaster risk reduction and community resilience. The district’s active participation showcased a culture of preparedness, coordination and discipline in line with Assam’s mission to build safe and disaster-ready communities.
The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Dima Hasao, expressed its commitment to continue disaster mitigation programmes in collaboration with stakeholders such as the Indian Red Cross Society, emphasising the importance of continuous training and awareness to prevent risks, save lives and foster a culture of safety across the district.
