Amrit Tree Movement: Over 2.50 trees plantation aim to make Morigaon green

JAGIROAD, Sept 16: The Morigaon district administration under
the directives of the Assam Government will plant 2.71 lakh
commercially demanding tree seedlings in Morigaon district on
September 17 under the Amrit Tree Movement to boost the
tree economy and increase green cover in the state.
Additional district commissioner Pranjal Kumar Baruah said
1.35 lakh people have registered under the Amrit Briksha
Andolan programme in the district and the trees will be planted
on Sunday.
Under this mission, 10 million trees with commercial demand
will be planted across Assam. In the district of Morigaon, the
saplings were distributed to 85 gaon panchayats, self-help
group members, ASHA workers, anganwadi workers,
educational institutions, police, tea plantations, government
employees, people involved in religious institutions and others
in the district from September 13 to15 last.
The additional district commissioner also said that as per the
new directives of the government of Assam, the deadline for
taking photographs of trees planted under the Amrit Briksha
Andolan Scheme (with GPS location and time) has been
extended to 4 pm on September 17. The deadline for uploading
these photos to the Amrit Briksha Andolan mobile app or portal
has been extended to midnight on September 17.
