JORHAT, May 10: The Jorhat deputy commissioner Pulak Mahanta, on Tuesday, launched the Arohan scheme in the district in a function held at the Sri Sri Pitambar Deva Goswami auditorium of the Jorhat District Library.
A district administration official informed that under the scheme, for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic sessions, one student each from class 9 and 10 from altogether 178 government and provincialised high and higher secondary schools across the district have been selected.
The official stated that several district administration officials, heads of different departments, serving and retired faculty members of colleges, alumni of schools have been included as mentors for the students under the scheme.
It may be mentioned here that Arohan is a mentor-mentee programme for meritorious students of secondary classes of government schools envisioned by the state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Under the scheme, the talented students (class 9 to 12) will be provided support through mentoring/counselling for career progression, exposure and incentive either cash or kinds.
