SIVASAGAR, Nov 2: On Thursday, ASHA workers from Sivasagar district staged a protest in front of the District Commissioner’s office, expressing their discontent with the government’s policy, which involves their engagement in various tasks beyond their designated roles within the Health & Family Welfare department. The demonstration aimed to highlight this issue along with other related grievances.
During the protest, the ASHA workers voiced their demand for a fixed monthly salary of at least Rs 15,000, emphasizing the need for regular payment instead of the current stipend system. They stressed the importance of a stable income to meet their livelihood requirements while carrying out their crucial duties.
Furthermore, the leaders representing the ASHA workers cautioned of potential actions, including a potential boycott of the voting process and the threat of extensive agitation in the subsequent phase if their appeals remain unaddressed by the government.
The workers seek acknowledgment and resolution of their concerns to ensure fair compensation and proper recognition for their vital contributions to the healthcare sector.
