Saikia had travelled to Nigeria for a holiday on October 28, where she was reportedly held against her will. Concerns were raised when there was no contact from her for three days. After a four-day silence, Saikia managed to reach out to her family and informed them of her situation.

She reported that a man named King had picked her up from the airport and forcefully taken her visa and passport. Saikia’s daughter revealed distressing details of her mother’s situation, including lack of food and abduction.

Saikia had travelled on a 14-day visa on October 28, and her return ticket was scheduled for November 13 at 10:45 PM. However, King prevented her from reaching the airport. The family has lodged an FIR at the Dispur Police station regarding the incident.
