Assam: Citizens’ Forum silver jubilee

JORHAT, April 1: The silver jubilee celebration of the Jorhat based Senior Citizens’ Forum concluded here on Tuesday.

The day began with the hoisting of 25 flags to mark the occasion, at the Forum’s Samannay Path, Jail Road office by the silver jubilee celebration organising committee 2024-25, led by its president Rohini Bhattacharjee.

The smriti tarpan was offered to the founder members of the Forum by the organising committee working president Dr Arun Kumar Pathak.

Later at a function presided over by Rohini Bhattacharjee, Dulal Chandra Bora, another working president, delivered the welcome address followed by Dilip Bezbaruah organising committee general secretary, presented the secretary report. Bezbaruah in his report gave an account of activities undertaken by the Forum in the last 25 years.

Three noted persons above 90 years were felicitated with seleng sadors, phulam gamosa and a citation. The three persons were educationist and a xatradhikar Prabhat Chandra Mahanta, social worker Makhani Saikia and another social worker and philanthropist Jogeswar Bora.

The three felicitated persons thanked the Forum and expressed their gratitude.

Xatradhikar of Dakhinpat Xatra, Noni Gopal Deva Goswami attended the function as chief guest, delivered a speech on spirituality.

A souvenir titled Ujjivan, edited by Indira Baruah was released by Malini, a noted writer and researcher on Ramayan literature on the occasion.
