GUWAHATI, Dec 5: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will embark on a two-day visit to Barak Valley on December 6 and 7, during which he is slated to attend a series of major public programmes across Cachar and Hailakandi districts.
Dr Sarma will arrive in Silchar on December 6 and proceed to Hailakandi to attend a Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) cheque distribution ceremony at the Hailakandi Mela Field at 11:15 AM. He will return to Cachar later in the day to join another MMUA event at Borjalenga Field under the Dholai constituency at 1:15 PM, where beneficiaries will receive financial assistance under the state’s flagship women’s empowerment scheme.
On December 7, the chief minister will lay the foundation stone for the long-awaited Madhura Bridge at 10:30 AM. The bridge is expected to significantly improve inter-district connectivity, reduce traffic congestion and contribute to long-term economic growth in the Barak Valley.
Dr Sarma will then move to Udharbond to attend another MMUA cheque distribution ceremony at the DNHS Field at 11:30 AM. He is scheduled to depart Silchar for Guwahati later in the afternoon, concluding his two-day tour of the region.
