Guwahati, March 5: A team of officials from the Election Commission of India (ECI), led by Deputy Election Commissioner Hirdesh Kumar, is conducting meetings to assess the readiness for the forthcoming General Elections 2024 in the state.
The ECI team had a meeting with Paban Kumar Borthakur, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Anurag Goel, the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, and P.K. Bhuyan, the IGP (L&O); State Police Nodal Officer of Assam.
The team also met with Akhilesh Kumar Singh, IPS and IGP (WR), Bongaigaon; Nodal Officer, Election Expenditure, Assam, Dilip Kumar Dey, representatives from different central enforcement agencies, and the senior secretaries of various Government departments. The meetings took place at Janata Bhawan in Dispur.
A three-member team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) landed in Guwahati, Assam on Tuesday. The team arrived at the LGBI Airport around 11 am and will be stationed at Radisson Blu in Guwahati.
