GUWAHATI, Oct 18: In a major reshuffle in the state’s police ranks, the Assam government transferred 36 senior officers, according to a notification.
Sribhumi’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Partha Protim Das was transferred to Cachar in the same post.
Dhubri SSP Leena Doley will replace Das in Sribhumi, while Cachar SSP Numal Mahatta was sent to Kokrajhar, according to the notification issued on Friday.
Commandant of Assam Police’s 4th Battalion Debasish Borah will be the new Dhubri SSP, while Jorhat SSP Shwetank Mishra will replace him. Mishra was also given the additional charge of the SSP of Special Branch (Research and Analysis Cell).
Sivasagar SSP Subhrajyoti Bora will take over Mishra’s earlier role as Jorhat SSP.
Karbi Anglong SSP Sanjib Kumar Saikia will be the new Kamrup SSP, replacing Ranjan Bhuyan, who will take over as SSP (Anti-Human Trafficking) of CID.
Dima Hasao SSP Mayank Kumar was named the SSP of Tinsukia, while Ripunjoy Kakati, the Assistant IGP (AP), will replace him.
Tinsukia SSP Abhijit Dilip was transferred to Dibrugarh, replacing VV Rakesh Reddy, who was posted as SSP of Hojai.
In the Guwahati Police, Shambhavi Mishra will be the new DCP (Central), Amitabh Basumatary the new DCP (West), and Jagadish Das the new DCP (Border).
The reshuffle was made with a few months left for the assembly elections in the state, due to be held early next year. (PTI)
