Guwahati, Nov 03:Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday launched the Jiban Prerana scheme at Janata Bhawan to provide financial aid and skill development support to the state’s youth.
Under the Skill and Development Department, graduates of 2025 will receive monthly assistance of ₹2,500 for a year to help with college, hostel, and transport expenses. The aid will be directly credited to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
CM Sarma said the initiative aims to ensure financial issues do not hinder students’ education and growth. The scheme, alongside CM Flight and CM Jiban Aunprerana, forms part of the government’s broader youth empowerment plan.
Financial aid will start from February 27, 2026. Students graduating in 2026 will receive it in 2027. Those studying outside Assam but graduating from recognised universities will also be eligible. However, children of government officials, ministers, or families earning over ₹10 lakh annually will be excluded.
The Chief Minister also highlighted schemes like Nijut Moina for girls, reinforcing the government’s commitment to building a skilled and self-reliant generation.
