Guwahati, April 18: Assam Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have scrutinized the affidavits of all 35 candidates contesting in the 5 constituencies of the Assam Phase-I Lok Sabha elections 2024.
The analysis reveals that 5 candidates have criminal cases against them, 15 are crorepatis, and the average assets per candidate is Rs. 2.17 Crores.
The candidates with the highest assets are Diluwara Begum Chowdhury, Manoj Dhanowar, and Ranjit Dutta, while those with the lowest are Pallab Pegu, Saleh Ahmed Mazumdar, and Salim Ahmed.
19 candidates have high liabilities, and the ones with the highest incomes as per their ITRs are Gaurav Gogoi, Uday Shankar Hazarika, and Ranjit Dutta. 13 candidates have their education between 5th and 12th standard, 20 are graduates or above, and 2 are Diploma holders.
5 candidates are aged between 25 to 40 years, 23 are between 41 to 60 years, and 7 are between 61 to 70 years. 4 female candidates are contesting in the elections.
