Assam Police seize ₹8 crore worth of Yaba tablets and cigarettes from Barak River in a joint operation.

Guwahati, 11 Oct: Assam Police and the Directorate General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) intercepted a country-made boat in the Barak River carrying 10,000 Yaba tablets and 1,25,000 packets of Essential Light cigarettes, with a total value of ₹8 crore on 11 October. The seizure stopped the movement of illegal goods along the river.

The operation was conducted by Cachar police and DGAR following intelligence about smuggling activities. The boat was confiscated, and investigations are underway to identify the people and networks involved in the operation.

Assam Chief Minister shared the news on social media, calling it a “big win for Assam Police” and noted the government’s stance against drug trafficking and smuggling. Authorities have assured action against all those connected to the case.
