Astrophysicist and nuclear physicist deliver presentations in Jorhat

JORHAT, Sept 14: Dr Payaswini Saikia, an astrophysicist from New York University, and Dr Prasoon Raj, a nuclear physicist from MIT, delivered presentations at Salt Brook Senior Secondary School in Jorhat in collaboration with the Jorhat Astronomical Society (JAS).

Dr Payaswini Saikia, an expert in astrophysics and cosmology with a focus on black holes, explained complex phenomena related to astrophysics, including black holes, dark matter, and the expansion of the universe, using visual aids. She also shared images of the Pale Blue Dot.

Dr Prasoon Raj, who is married to Dr Payaswini Saikia, delivered a presentation on the design of nuclear reactors, providing insights into the topic.

Both Dr Saikia and Dr Raj engaged in an interactive session with the audience, which included students, teachers, educationists, and prominent citizens.

The event began with felicitations for the scientists by Jehirul Ahmed, director of Salt Brook Jorhat, and Bhrigupati Hazarika, secretary of JAS.
