MANGALDAI, May 11: The State Bank of India’s Mangaldai branch has conducted an awareness programme on cyber fraud at the Mangaldai Banik Santha meeting hall here.
Cybercrime or cyber fraud is the illegal use of the internet to deceive people into parting with money, goods, or other items. The huge volume of daily business transactions being conducted digitally is leading to an increase in cybercrimes and cyber frauds. Resource person Abul Kalam Azad advises customers to exercise extreme caution while doing transactions digitally in the presence of notable guests and well-known businessmen. Jaydeep Kar, branch manager of SBI, Mangaldai, Anindit Bora, deputy branch manager of SBI, Mangaldai, office bearers of the branch and customers of the branch were present during the programme.
During his speech, Azad urged the audience to reject requests and offers from unidentified sources or people. Additionally, he suggested creating secure passwords for computers, tablets, and smartphones. Jaydeep Kar gave a brief explanation of cybercrime and its rising trends.
