GUWAHATI, Dec 24: Launching a scathing attack on Congress president Bhupen Bora, Assam BJP spokesperson Ranjib Kumar Sharma on Sunday said that the former leader has deteriorated from a leader to a joker.

Sharma mentioned that the departure of frontline Congress leaders, such as Gaurav Gogoi, Pradyut Bordoloi, Rakibul Hussain, Debabrat Saikia, and Abdul Khaleque, has led Bora to speak gibberish in order to maintain his relevance.

“Congress president compared the political atmosphere in Assam to that of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar a decade ago. Congress was the one that had done politics by capturing the ballot boxes in both states. We all know that Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh and Lalu Prasad’s RJD in Bihar also followed Congress’s policies in the coming times. Since Assam has a government led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, rigging is not possible anymore during voting, and this is the reason why Bora is depressed, and he has turned himself into a joker by saying unrelated stuff,” said Sharma while speaking at a press conference held at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan.

Sharma further said that an enriched academic environment has developed because of the healthy and stable administration system built by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the state.

The BJP spokesperson further informed that the year 2021 saw a significant surge in higher education enrollment, marking an impressive increase and bringing the total number of students to 12 lakh.

“In 2021, student enrollment in higher education witnessed a notable increase of 4.1 per cent, totaling 12 lakh students. Additionally, research from the State Bank of India revealed an 11.8 per cent decline in unemployment over the past two years, positioning Assam at the forefront of states successfully combating joblessness,” he concluded.
