KOKRAJHAR, Nov 24: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) orchestrated a momentous mass gathering at Green Field, Bodofa Nwgwr in Kokrajhar on Friday, drawing an immense crowd from diverse areas under Kokrajhar LAC. The meticulously organized event, led by the Kokrajhar district committee of the BJP, served as a platform for political leaders to address and connect with the community.
Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, Pramod Boro, the chief executive member of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) and UPPL president, fondly recalled the historic visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Kokrajhar following the signing of the BTR peace accord. Boro underscored the unwavering commitment of the Prime Minister, along with Union home minister Amit Shah and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, towards ensuring enduring peace in the Bodoland region.
The chief executive member highlighted the transformative strides made in the region, citing the successful implementation of various development projects and comprehensive missions spanning education, sports, agriculture, and infrastructure.
Boro made a significant announcement during the gathering, revealing that BJP and UPPL would collaboratively field candidates in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for Kokrajhar and Darrang-Udalguri parliamentary constituencies in 2024.
Amid the fervour of the crowd, Assam cabinet minister Jayanta Malla Baruah expressed his confidence in the joint strength of BJP and UPPL, predicting resounding victories for their candidates in the 2024 parliamentary elections. He affirmed that this anticipated success would contribute to the return of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for a remarkable third consecutive term.
Minister Pijush Hazarika took the opportunity to highlight the substantial progress in translating promises into reality. He emphasised the implementation of the Orunodoi scheme, which has reached 27 lakh families, the provision of jobs for 86,000 youths, and the successful recovery of microfinance loans for women.
Sharing the news on social media, minister Hazarika said on X (formerly Twitter), “I was thrilled to address a huge janasabha organised on a constituency basis at the end of a massive bike rally in No. 3 Kokrajhar and No. 4 Baokhungri constituencies, at the initiative of the Kokrajhar District Committee. I was overwhelmed to see the immense love and cooperation displayed by the people in this janasabha for our party and the capable leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sir. The people’s cooperation and affection for the continuous service being provided by our BJP-led government for their overall development have been a huge source of inspiration for us. I also extended a warm welcome to many people who joined our party inspired by its values during this janasabha. I was accompanied by fellow minister Shri @jayanta_malla, district president Smt. Kabita Basumatary, MLA Shri @BijoyMalakarMLA, district, mandal, and booth-level kāryakartās, and several executive members of BTR.”
The event witnessed a significant influx of support, with more than 100 members from various political parties, including former members of the NDFB, choosing to align themselves with the BJP. This strong show of unity and support solidified the significance of the grand gathering in Kokrajhar.
