DHUBRI, March 19: As the 2026 Assam Assembly elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is banking on veteran leader Uttam Prasad as its key candidate for the 8 No Dhubri LAC.
Known for strong grassroots connectivity and a secular image, Prasad is seen as capable of reshaping traditional political equations. While rooted in the Sanatan Hindu community, he is also said to enjoy notable support among minority communities, giving the BJP a strategic advantage in the constituency.
Popularly known as “Uttam Da,” he has built a strong rural base through consistent public outreach and social service. Political observers believe his broad appeal and clean image make him a crucial asset for the BJP in Dhubri.
