NAGAON, Nov 3: The lives of over one hundred school students were luckily spared from a possible tragic incident on Wednesday evening after a local boat carrying the students capsized in a stream of the mighty Brahmaputra near Sutirpar of the greater Juria in Nagaon district.

Sources claimed that the small boat was carrying the students towards a riverine local school at Sutirpar and capsized in the middle of the stream.

Meanwhile some locals working there immediately rushed to the spot and were able to rescue all the occupants of the boat including the students, sources said, adding further that some girl-students were immediately admitted to local hospital and they were still under treatment till the time of filing of this report.

It is alleged that the boat was capsized because of the overload and the owner has paid no heed to it, sources said further.
