Book launch in Gossaigaon highlights need to foster reading habits among youth

GOSSAIGAON, Aug 11: A literary atmosphere filled the air in Gossaigaon as retired senior professor of the Bodo Department at Gossaigaon College, Dhananjay Brahma, unveiled his latest Bodo-language work Phalengnifray Japhungsar Hounnay Gedemaphour.

The release ceremony, held at the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU) Anchalik Office, drew noted intellectuals, educationists, and book lovers.

The book was launched by eminent writer, scholar, and Padma Shri awardee Dr Kameswar Brahma.

The event was presided over by Bodo Sahitya Sabha Gossaigaon District Committee president Prasannalal Narzary, and attended by Dr. Ajit Boro, Principal of Gossaigaon B.Ed. College; Dr. Hargouri Narzary, Principal of Gossaigaon College; Dr. Niranjan Brahma; Prof. Pradip Kumar Das; and Bodo Sahitya Sabha vice-president Nilima Basumatary.

Speakers lauded Dhananjay Brahma for his contribution to Bodo literature, calling the book a valuable addition to the community’s literary heritage.

They urged him to continue producing works that inspire and inform future generations.

Dr Kameswar Brahma and other guests stressed the importance of developing reading habits among young people, encouraging them to explore books as tools for knowledge, personality development, and creative expression.

Prof Pradip Kumar Das also spoke on the role of publishing and reading in shaping an enlightened and progressive society.

The event concluded with the message that books remain timeless companions, capable of inspiring minds and nurturing a culture of learning for generations to come.
