Books unveiled at 11th Special Session of Axom Xahitya Xabha

MORIGAON, Feb 1: Five books, including a children’s novel, were inaugurated by the secretary-general of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Dr Upendrajit Sarma, in the presence of the president of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Dr Surya Kanta Hazarika, in Bhupen Hazarika’s Meeting Hall on the second day of the 11th Special Session of the Axom Xahitya Xabha 2024 at Pasuraja Samanai Khetra, Barapujia, Morigaon.

Amidst the tumultuous celebration of the 11th Session of Axom Xahitya Xabha, the writer of the books, Anita Hazarika, a retired principal (in-charge) of Charaibahi Anchalik Madhyamik Vidyalaya, was overwhelmed with joy at releasing the books in such a literary platform where distinguished and noted literary persons of the Axom Xahitya Xabha were in attendance.

The five books are: Children’s novel- Kaka Deuta Aru Nati Lora (Grandfather and Grandson) – The author has made us aware of how to be responsible to our elders and society from childhood; Bandar Aru Ekhan Sithi (The Monkey and a Letter) – A collection of science-based stories suitable for children. This is the 3rd edition of the book, which has already won the Children’s Literature Award three times; Gite Mate Moinar A-B-C-D; Abari – A collection of short stories with proper guidance for the younger generation; Asomia Sahityat Pragyar Xhdhak – The collection of 28 essays on the history of Assamese literature, including the author’s contribution to the history of Assamese literature.

Earlier, a total of 107 flags of the Axom Xahitya Xabha were hoisted by the president of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Dr Suryakanta Hazarika. Thereafter, the smriti tarpan was offered by the vice-president of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Dr Girish Handique.
