Axom Xahitya Xabha’s special session concludes in Morigaon

MORIGAON, Feb 3: The 11th special session of the Axom Xahitya Xabha was held at the Pasuraja Samanai Khetra,Barapujia on Saturday in Morigaon.

The programme began with an ethnic students’ meet of the state, which was organized in the memory of freedom fighter and former minister Sarat Ch. Goswami. It was inaugurated by Utpal Sarma, president of the All Assam Students’ Union. The ethnic students’ meet was presided over by the vice president, Girish Handique. The leaders of altogether 30 ethnic groups attended the ethnic students’  meet.

Former president of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Kuladhar Saikia inaugurated the ‘Dr. Lakhinandan Bora Memorial Second Open Meeting’. The president of the reception committee, Hemanta Kr. Deuri delivered the welcome address during the meeting. The president of Axom Xahitya Xabha, Surya Kanta Hazarika chaired the meeting. Dr. Iram Gambhir Singh, head of the department of English and Sanskrit of the Manipur University attended as the chief guest of the meeting.

Iram Gambhir Singh delivered a valuable speech towards the importance of Assamese language in the state. It is to be mentioned that the 11th special session of AXX concluded with presence of scanty of people in the courtyard of the literary body.
