Boundary dispute with Meghalaya to be resolved soon: KAAC chief Tuliram Ronghang

DONGKAMUKAM, Nov 12: Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang, announced that the long-standing inter-state boundary dispute with Meghalaya will be resolved soon.

Ronghang was speaking during a land patta distribution event at Baithalangso Serdihun Aklam in West Karbi Anglong.

“The long-standing inter-state boundary issue with Meghalaya will be solved soon. Similarly, the border problem between Assam and Nagaland will also see a resolution,” the KAAC CEM said.

Ronghang further described the free land patta distribution as a “historic day” for the hill tribes. The remaining land pattas will be distributed in phases.

The CEM urged people to have faith in the KAAC, noting that the status of the Professional Grazing Reserve (PGR) and Village Grazing Reserve lands will soon be clarified. He also announced that major road connectivity projects from rural to urban areas are on track for completion.

Besides this, a White Paper on the PGR land in Kheroni (Hawaipur) was released by CEM Tuliram Ronghang on the occasion.

On the other hand, MP Amar Sing Tisso, in his speech, informed that the Annual Pattas being issued now will be converted into Meadi Pattas next year.

A total of 10,000 pattas were distributed.

The event was attended by MLAs Rupsing Teron and Darsing Ronghang, KAAC chairman Raju Tisso, West Karbi Anglong DC Sarangapani Sharma, SP Indranil Barua, and traditional Karbi King Ramsing Ronghang.
