Despite every possible medical effort, he succumbed to the illness today, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and public service.

His mortal remains will be flown to his native place in Dibrugarh on Monday, where his last rites will be performed with full state honors. He is survived by his father, DulenKumar Borthakur, his brother, Debraj Borthakur, and his wife, Akansha Sharma Borthakur.

Borthakur began his distinguished administrative career in 2017 as an Assistant Commissioner in South Salmara. Over the years, he held several key positions across Assam, including Circle Officer of Nagaon and Dolgaon, and Sub-Divisional Officer in Hailakandi district. Since 2022, he had been serving as Additional District Commissioner of Cachar, and also held the critical role of Chief Executive Officer of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), where he was instrumental in disaster preparedness and relief operations.
