CEM reiterates KAAC’s commitment to inclusive devp

Tuliram lays foundation stones for multiple road projects, distributes 3,500 land pattas

DIPHU, Dec 18: Chief Executive Member of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Tuliram Ronghang on December 17 laid foundation stones for a series of major road and infrastructure development projects in the Duarbagori Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) constituency in Karbi Anglong district.

The CEM was accompanied by Duarbagori MAC and Executive Member of KAAC Richard Tokbi, along with other Executive Members and MACs, during his visit to the constituency.

Among the projects inaugurated were the improvement and upgradation of the road from Merabheti to Lobonghat via Rongbonghat and Deithor, covering stretches from chainage 8,150 metres to 11,000 metres and from 13,444 metres to 13,994 metres.

Ronghang also laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new road from Kohora Nou Village to Chandra Sing Rongpi Village under the Mukhya Mantri Unnotto Paki Path Nirman Achani (MMUPPNA) scheme, funded under RIDF-XXXI of NABARD for the year 2025–26.

Another major project inaugurated was the improvement and upgradation of the Chowkihola–Panjan–Deithor–Malasi–Dirring–Kohora Road (CPDMDK), covering a long stretch from 16 km to 52 km under the Asom Mala 3.1 scheme for 2025–26.

The CEM further laid foundation stones for several additional road works under the Mukhya Mantrir Paki Path Nirman Achani (MMPPNA), also funded under RIDF-XXXI of NABARD.

These include construction of roads from Upper Rangsali to Rongteke, from Wophong Hanse to Sarthe Rongpi village, from Dirring to Rasho Engli village along the CPDMDK route, from Kohora Ethnic Village to Kohora 6th Mile IB via Chandasing Rongpi village, from Kaziranga National Orchid Park to the CPDMDK road via Bakring Engti village, and a nine-kilometre stretch of the CPDMDK road up to Geleki village.

The Public Works Department Kohora Road Division, Dolamara, under the Executive Engineer, has been designated as the implementing agency for all the projects.

Later in the day, Ronghang attended a land patta distribution programme organised by the Land and Revenue Department of KAAC under the flagship scheme ‘Purthimi Akemang 2.0’.

The programme was held at the Rongbonghat High School playground.

During the event, as many as 3,500 land pattas were distributed free of cost to selected beneficiaries belonging to indigenous tribal communities residing in Karbi Anglong. The CEM said the initiative aims to secure land rights for indigenous people and strengthen their socio-economic security, while reaffirming the KAAC’s commitment to inclusive development across the district.
