DIPHU, Sept 24: Supporters of Mohen Bey, who unsuccessfully fought the last Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) election as an Independent, have joined the BJP during a programme at Rongagora, Socheng Dhenta MAC constituency on Saturday.

The Opposition workers were welcomed into the ruling party by the president of BJP, East Karbi Anglong District Committee, Dhansing Teron; chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang and MAC Kache Rongpipi.
“Delighted to receive 4000 more families from Independent to the BJP in Rongagorah, under Socheng Dhenta Constituency,” the CEM said in a social media post.
Addressing the gathering the CEM said, “The KAAC will not allow introduction of Eco-Sensitive Zone for extension of tiger reserve in the adjoining Karbi villages of Kaziranga National Park. If needed, legal help will be taken.”
Criticising the president of All Party Hills Leaders Conference (APHLC), JI Kathar, the CEM said Kathar is misleading the people in the name of Sixth Schedule.
He also said KAAC will soon give appointments to 2000 youths. Improvement of road from NH-37 to Rongagora will be done, vacant posts of teachers of Rongagora ME School and high school will be filled within a year and distribution of free horticulture plants in the next plantation season to every family will be done, he informed.
The joining programme was attended by MLA, Darsing Ronghang; general secretary, BJP, Socheng Dhenta Mandal Committee, Komol Teron and others.
