NAGAON, Jan 16: The ‘Amulya Manna Photography Award 2024’ will be bestowed upon the renowned cinematographer of the state, Suman Duwara. The Amulya Manna Memorial Trust, in collaboration with the Photography Institute of Assam, is set to present the award at a ceremony on January 19, 2024, marking the death anniversary of Amulya Manna.
The award includes an appraisal letter, a memento, and a cash prize of Rs 20,000. The trust has been annually presenting this prestigious award since 2021 to individuals who have made notable contributions to the field of photography and cinematography.
Previously, the award was conferred upon noted photographer and cinematographer Nalini Kanta Baruah, Samir Chowdhury, and Mahendra Baruah by the trust, as mentioned in a press note.
Suman Duwara initiated his career in 1997 as a cinematographer for the Bengali film ‘Hathat Bristi’, directed by the esteemed filmmaker Basu Chatterjee. Duwara has since worked as a cinematographer in more than 39 films. He collaborated with prominent Assamese filmmakers and directors such as Munin Baruah, Jahnu Baruah, Bidyut Chakraborty, Jadumoni Dutta, and Manjul Baruah. In addition to his filmography, Duwara has been associated with over 150 documentaries, 70 video films, and more than 25 TV serials.
