BISWANATH CHARIALI, June 2: Ankur Nath, a ten-year-old resident of Killingmukh, Borbheti village under Sootea PS, suffered an electric shock at Killingmukh Anganwadi center on May 29 and was immediately rushed to Biswanath Chariali sub-divisional hospital. Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to TMCH, Tezpur, for advanced medical care. Despite treatment, his recovery was slow, prompting medical staff at TMCH to advise his family to seek further treatment in Guwahati. However, being underprivileged, the family lacked the means to travel to Guwahati.

In this dire situation, Uttam Kumar Nath, secretary of Sootea Press Club and a local journalist, initiated a crowdfunding campaign through his news portal Sootea 24×7 to assist the family. His plea resonated with many, including the circle officer of Naduar revenue circle, local employees, and other community members, who generously contributed to the cause. With the funds collected, Ankur was successfully transported to Guwahati for treatment.

Ankur’s condition is reported to be stable and showing signs of improvement. The timely intervention by journalist Nath has garnered praise from the community for his compassionate initiative.
