NAGAON, Nov 16: Raju Ahmed, a dreaded dacoit was injured in police firing in the wee hours on
Thursday at Juria Samdhora Barunguri village in Nagaon district. Police also recovered one 7.65 mm
pistol and other ammunition from his possession,
According to police sources, after the firing the injured dacoit was immediately admitted at the Nagaon
BP Civil Hospital in Nagaon for treatment.
The police had reportedly arrested another dacoit, Mehbub Islam from Shingiya Pothar on Wednesday.
It was based on his statement that a police team conducted a raid at Juria Samdhora Barunguri village in
the morning on Thursday.
When the team arrived at the village last night, the injured dacoit had tried to escape from police and
even fired at them. The police personnel also retaliated in self-defence. In the process the former
sustained a bullet injury.
On the other hand, local sources also claimed that the injured Raju is also a local leader of a political
party.
