MANGALDAI, Nov 21: The Philosophy department of Deomornoi Degree College, in collaboration with the college’s IQAC Cell, commemorated World Philosophy Day on Thursday. A workshop involving all the college’s students and professors was organised as part of the event. Dr Gitali Kalita, the college principal, officially inaugurated the program, following an address by Dr Manoj Kr Sarma, head of the Philosophy department, who outlined its objectives.
The first lecture, titled ‘Philosophy Bridging the Gaps’, was delivered by Mohibul Islam, an assistant professor in the English department. In his remarks, Islam encouraged students to focus on value education. Dikshita Kashyap, a fifth-semester student, delivered an insightful talk on the topic.
Following the workshop, students participated in an open quiz contest conducted by Mainul Haque, an assistant professor in the department of Political Science. More than fifty students took part in the competition, where Chayanika Deka secured the first prize, while Pulakesh Sarma and Janki Kalita won second and third positions, respectively.
Nilima Baruah, an assistant professor in the Philosophy department, concluded the event by delivering a vote of thanks.
