DHAC hands over appointment letters to 31 young footballers in Dima Hasao

CEM reaffirms commitment to youth empowerment and sports development

GUWAHATI, Jan 23: In a significant move aimed at empowering the youth and strengthening sports at the grassroots level, the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) on Thursday handed over appointment letters to 31 outstanding football players of the district. The beneficiaries included one player from the CEM’s Cup, two from the MAC Cup and 28 players from the Inter-Polling Football Tournament.

The initiative marks an important step towards encouraging sports among the younger generation, nurturing local talent and steering youth away from negative influences by providing meaningful opportunities through sports.

The ceremonial distribution programme was attended by Chief Executive Member (CEM) of DHAC, Debolal Gorlosa, along with DHAC Chairman Mohet Hojai, Deputy Chairman Amin Leinthang, Dima Hasao BJP Prabhari Vijay Kumar Gupta, Dima Hasao District BJP president and MAC Dhriti Thaosen, Executive Members Probita Johori, Samuel Changsan, Niranjan Hojai, Paudaming Nriame, Manjit Naiding, Biswajit Daulagupu, Zosumthang Hmar and several MACs and CDC Chairmen from different constituencies.

Addressing the gathering, CEM Debolal Gorlosa stated that the core objective of this initiative is to boost and empower youth by strengthening sports talent at all levels. He emphasised that sports not only build discipline and teamwork but also channel youthful energy in a positive direction, keeping young people away from harmful activities. Reiterating his commitment towards the youth of Dima Hasao, the CEM remarked, “Promise made, promise kept,” and urged the players to shoulder responsibility for society and the nation. To mark the occasion, a friendly football match between the CEM’s XI and the Chairman’s XI was organised at Sengya Sambhudhan Phonglo Mlaoyam, Haflong, by the District Sports & Youth Welfare Department in collaboration with the G.A.D, DHAC. The match added a festive and motivational spirit to the event, underlining the Council’s continued focus on promoting sports and youth engagement across the district.
