Dima Hasao Admin Imposes Restrictions On Picnic Parties

HAFLONG, Jan 10: Due to the significant movement of picnic parties in the district, Simanta Das, the district magistrate (DM) of Dima Hasao, has issued a prohibitory order under Section 144 of Cr.P.C to ensure road safety and prevent rash driving under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicating substances.

As per the order, the consumption of alcohol or any other intoxicating substances by the driver of the vehicle is prohibited. Besides this, high-volume loudspeakers, DJing, microphones, and PA systems, as well as driving above the permissible speed limit, have been restricted according to the order.

The order also prohibits the selling, buying, or consumption of alcohol in and around picnic spots or river ghats, the sale of liquor without a valid license, littering, and open defecation in these areas.

“No overcrowding in picnic vehicles is allowed, and loud music in picnic vehicles while driving is prohibited. Movement of picnic parties before sunrise, after sunset, and during foggy weather is also restricted under the order,” the order read further.

The order further stated that any person aggrieved by this order may file an objection for exemption; otherwise, any violation will invite prosecution under Section 188 of IPC against the violators.
